Y9 & Y10 Plantin-Moretus museum
What better way to learn about the origin of books, both in text and graphic form, than taking a trip to the home of printing in Antwerp, the Plantin-Moretus museum. A Unesco world heritage site, this 400 year old building, once the home of Christophe Plantin and his family, is now the proud exhibitor of the work of Lodovico Guicciardini.
The Year 9 and 10 students had the privilege of a guided tour through the pages of Guicciardini's maps, drawings and text on life in the thriving city of Antwerp in the 16th century. The students were impressed by the skill and work that was needed to create a book at that time and have developed a new appreciation for all things 'bibliophilic'.
